Script for Adeline's side quest, Song of Memories. I got the script for SEA forums and changed npc and dungeon names, but script itself may be different from NA.
- Adeline: (Adeline stares at the harp with sadness in the eyes.)
- Is something bothering you?
- Adeline: Sigh. This harp... it just revokes my past memories. There was... someone who loved to hear me play...
He and Bailey would come listen to the sound of the harp playing every evening.
- Him?
- Adeline: Oh, nevermind. Let bygones be bygones. Didn't you say you have a job to rush?
- I'm sorry, I was just trying to...
- Adeline: Oh, now that I remember! I have an unfinished job to take care. I'll talk to you again later.
(Talk to Bailey to find out more about this mysterious person.)
- Bailey: Do you have any question?
- (You ask about Adeline.)
- Bailey: Like you mention, it has been some time since Adeline last played her harp. In fact, she hasn't played since my friend Yorick passed away.
- I am sorry that I bring up the story.
- Bailey: No, that was 3 years ago. Adeline, though... I'm certain she no longer plays the harp due to her broken heart.
- So it really happened.
- Bailey: I hope that Adeline would forget her pain. Ah, now that you mention... Yorick once told me, shortly before he passed, that he had some harsh words with Adeline.
- Hmm? What do you mean by that?
- Bailey: Although I don't know what he said, but seems like those words greatly hurt Adeline.
- Something that hurt her...
- Bailey: Having said that, I need help.
- I'll help if I can do any help.
- Bailey: Adeline is upset because of the bitter end for them. We could render some help to Adeline if we knew what happened.
- Yes, but I think you need to figure out how to do it?
- Bailey: You should find out more information from May regarding Adeline. May tends to be more unreserved with information.
- Sounds like a good idea.
- Bailey: Yorick said if something happens to him , I should do him a favour by taking care of Adeline. But… I have been busy with work and neglected her.
I would like to hear Adeline's play the beautiful music again.
-----
- May: I'm so happy to see you. I reserved some special goods aside, just for you, {user_nick}!.
- Thanks, but I'm here for another reason today.
- May: Oh, so why are you here, to see me? (She giggles.)
- Actually, I wanted to ask you about Adeline...
- May: Yorick died. Many things happen between Adeline and Cleric Yorick.
( May, frowning forehead and trying remember something.)
- May: Oh, yeah. I remember. Both of them had an argument followed by a fight. I was startled and I remember it so well.
- What are they arguing in about?
- May: Adeline had a bad dream about Yorick going to battle and pleaded him not to go. It happened 3 years ago so the details are quite incomplete.
They were having some quiet conversation, and then they both broke up. Strange, yes very strange.
- What do you mean?
- May: The day before that fight, Yorick bought a ring for Adeline. But why did they fight? However, I don't think Adeline got the ring.
- Hmmm, anything else that you can recall?
- May: Maybe I can find a way, there's must be a way...
- Is there any other way?
- May: Yorick always had a small notebook with him because he liked to write poetry. From time to time he also used it as a diary. After the battle, his body was recovered from Assassin's Den, but his notebook was missing.
Perhaps those monsters of Assassin's Den are holding on to it all this while
- I'm going into the Assassin's Den to find the notes.
- May: Hope you can retrieve the notes, this might be helpful to Adeline to move on if we manage to find out what happen that day.
----
- May: You brought back Yorick's notebook!
(Hand over the notebook to May)
- May: I'll need time to look at the diary, see you later.
(May quickly read the diary.)
- What was the content about?
- May: You are here at the right time. I looked through Yorick's notes. I think I know what sparked their argument.
(May flips to a page and show the notes to you.)
You need to read to understand..
Excerpt from the Diary:
I will leave this world before her. Her time is like a huge tree slowly growing day by day, whereas mine is slipping away rapidly. I'm afraid to leave her alone...
Although she often comforted me, But I know she also feared staying alone in this world. I think I should let her free, So I told her those hurtful words.
I hear the cries of the monster, seems like will be my last entry. If I ever survive, I would say sorry to her and give her the best romantic marriage proposal.
The battle of the Canyon was worse than I expected. If someone manages to find this diary, please give her the ring on my behalf.
(May looks upset)
- May: What a good for nothing Cleric! Knowing that a Human lives a shorter life than Elves, yet he still chose to abandon Adeline!
- Calm down, Adeline might hear you.
- May: What a stupid man. Because of his stupidity, Adeline had to suffer for 3 years!
- (May catching her breathe)
- May: I got an idea! We need to help Adeline. You. You're gonna help me.
- What? Why me?
- May: Adeline looks sad, can't you see it? How can you be so heartless?
(May starts 30 minutes of preaching).
- Argh, alright! I'll help!
- May: First, we need to find the stupid ring and give to to Adeline with the diary. Valley of Mourning here we come!
- But, I'm not your servant ...
- May: Seems like you have yet understand why are we doing this. Do you need me to explain what I said earlier on?
- Guess I do not have a choice, Valley of Mourning...
- May: Let's go to the Valley of Mourning! Gotta retreive the proposal ring for Adeline!
-----
- May: Now, with the notes and Yorick's ring, deliver it to Adeline.
- (May seemed relieved.)
- May: Hope that Yorick's diary and the proposal ring will comfort her! Now, hurry over to Adeline.
-----
- Adeline: Is this Yorick's…. notebook?
(Adeline takes the diary and ring with trembling hands)
(Adeline reads for a very long time.)
(She burst into tears at the last page of the diary.)
What a fool this Yorick, but I was an idiot too. I was afraid of losing him, though I never let him know. We never talked about our future together, we were just, in love...
- (Waiting for Adeline to finish crying)
- Adeline: Yes. Yes, I am. (Adeline looks up at you. There is genuine happiness in her eyes.) The truth is...I've dealt with my pain already. In my heart, I've moved on, though...the last time we spoke...that has haunted me still...
- Yes, Yorick loved you, till the very end.
- Adeline: I will remember him always. I will live this life bravely, in honour of his love for me. Thank you very much.
- Are you alright now?
- Adeline: The heart still hurts but it will heal someday. Till then I would be able to play the Melody of Memories once again...
- That's good, I'm happy for you.
- Adeline: I think I hear the melody in the wind ...
- Adeline: (Adeline stares at the harp with sadness in the eyes.)
- Is something bothering you?
